The EcoSavers Air Purifying Bags are decomposable linen bags with inside them activated bamboo charcoal which can purify air and remove bad odors and moisture.
Activated bamboo charcoal is made by heating bamboo in a low-oxygen environment. This process creates millions of tiny pores on the surface.
That means it has a huge amount of microscopic parts to trap particles, gases, and moisture.
The principle: Adsorption
Adsorption means that molecules stick to the surface of the charcoal rather than being absorbed inside it.
The porous structure and negative charge of the carbon attract positively charged ions and volatile compounds from the air.
Activated bamboo charcoal can trap:
• Odors (like smoke, sweat, pet smells)
• Harmful gases (like formaldehyde, ammonia, and benzene)
• Excess moisture (helps prevent mold and mildew)
When you place a bamboo charcoal bag in a room, car, or shoe air passes through the bag.
Pollutants and odor molecules are drawn into the pores and stick to the charcoal.
Over time, the air becomes cleaner and fresher as more particles are adsorbed.
The process is passive — it doesn’t require electricity, filters, or chemicals.
“Recharging” the bags
The charcoal can get saturated after a while. To renew it, place the bag in direct sunlight for 1–2 hours every month.
The UV light and heat help release some of the trapped moisture and odor molecules.
After about 1–2 years, the charcoal loses effectiveness — you can then recycle it in soil as a natural fertilizer.
